Our Philosophy
Test-taking is a skill that can be learned, just like algebra, history, or a foreign language.
Our goal at Higher Standard is to provide the highest quality standardized test preparation available. We want to see each of our students perform their absolute best on the SAT or ACT and get into the college of their choice. We recognize that our success is contingent upon referrals from satisfied students.

Instructors
The most important aspect of any tutoring program is the quality of the instructors. Therefore, we are extremely selective in the tutors we hire: all of Higher Standard’s instructors have or are pursing their masters or PhDs. In addition, all come highly recommended by past clients so don’t hesitate to ask for references.
Class Size
Our experience has shown that the individual attention afforded by one-on-one and small group instruction makes an enormous positive difference in the effectiveness of test preparation. It is too easy for a student to lose interest in a large class that is moving at a pace that is too fast or too slow. By limiting our course offerings to private and semi-private classes, we are able to construct individualized programs for each of our clients and keep the student involved for the entire class. No two programs are the same; we design each course based on the specific needs and goals of the individual.
